Eric D. Johnson and I had some great times this summer hanging and playing music at Huichica, Hickey Fest and a variety of other interesting locales. In this session, we found a quiet place to chat (the visitor's center!) near the Northern CA roadside attraction, The Peg House, where Hickey Fest is held. Eric and I discuss song writing, mini golf, band names, and why he decided to go back to the Fruit Bats moniker.  While talking about non prolificness as a song writer, I learned that one of his most popular songs, When U Love Somebody, was written in the studio as a "throwaway" 10th track. It is the first song I ever heard by Fruit Bats and remains one of my all time favorite songs, period. I think my favorite part of the video is when an actual visitor comes into the very remotely located "Visitor Information Center" during the interview. Enjoy. And, go see Fruit Bats play this month. They have a good group of shows, some with My Morning Jacket, happening, see here. And, keep your ears out for a new Fruit Bats record in the next few months too! If you haven't already, check out our mini golf interview from earlier this year.

I'll be DJing the Fruit Bats show in the barn at Gundlach Bundschu Winery on Friday, October 9th. Come see us with Papercuts and one of my new faves of this year, Tall Tales and the Silver Lining.
